A Fresh New Home for Dragon Quill Books
We're excited to share a project we've been working on with the team at Dragon Quill Books. Their website has a new look, a new foundation, and a lot more speed under the hood. Here's a look at what changed and why it matters.
Why the Redesign
Dragon Quill Books creates heartwarming children's stories, and their website needed to reflect that same warmth and care. The old site had served them well, but it was time for something that loaded faster, worked better on phones, and gave visitors an easier path to explore the books, meet the author, and sign up for updates on new releases.
What's New
A cleaner, more welcoming layout. The homepage now leads with the brand's personality: a friendly dragon logo, a clear tagline ("Where Every Story Sparks a Child's Imagination"), and a spotlight on the latest release, Johnny's Magical Fishing Trip. Visitors can jump straight to the Bookshelf, learn About the Author, or read the Blog from a simple navigation bar that stays consistent across the site.
Built for speed. We rebuilt the site on a modern static site framework, which means pages are pre-built and served quickly rather than assembled on the fly. Images were compressed and converted to modern formats like WebP without losing visual quality, so pages load fast even on slower mobile connections.
Mobile-first design. Most visitors will find Dragon Quill Books from a phone, so the entire site was designed and tested with mobile in mind first, then scaled up for tablet and desktop.
Newsletter signup built in. A prominent sign-up form makes it easy for fans to hear about new book releases, exclusive content, and special offers, right from the homepage and the footer.
Social integration. Facebook and Instagram links are woven into the header and footer, making it simple for readers to follow along and share their favorite stories.
The Results Speak for Themselves
We ran the new site through Google PageSpeed Insights, and the results came back exactly the way we hoped:
A perfect 100 across Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO isn't just a vanity metric. It translates directly into a better experience for real visitors:
- Performance: 100 means pages load quickly, even on a slow connection or an older phone, so families aren't waiting around while a toddler tugs at their sleeve.
- Accessibility: 100 means the site works well for visitors using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive tools, so every reader can find their way to a great story.
- Best Practices: 100 reflects a site built on solid, modern web standards, with no shortcuts that could cause problems down the road.
- SEO: 100 means search engines can crawl and understand the site properly, helping new readers discover Dragon Quill Books when they search for children's books, bedtime stories, or family reading.
The report also shows a passing score on Agentic Browsing checks, a newer benchmark that measures how well a site works with AI-powered browsing tools. As more people start using AI assistants to search and shop online, this is quickly becoming just as important as traditional SEO.

Beyond the numbers, what we're proudest of is a site that feels like Dragon Quill Books: warm, inviting, and built around the stories at its heart. The new foundation also makes it easy to add new books, blog posts, and pages as the catalog grows, without sacrificing any of that speed or polish.
